Tips on How to Clean Your Shisha Pipe: A Beginner’s Guide

Shisha or Hookah is a popular activity in the middle east and some parts of India. It’s a big part of their culture. Though it’s also getting popular with many young people who enjoy shisha sessions with friends. In this article, we look into how to maintain or clean your Shisha.

Whether new or experienced, every shisha pipe user must understand how to clean a shisha pipe correctly. Even those who are attentive and good at keeping their shisha pipe tidy and regularly maintained must undertake a comprehensive and deep cleaning session every now and then. Otherwise, the shisha pipes would be unable to create all the delightful tastes we all like. Isn’t that something we don’t want?

There are plenty of quality Shisha pipes available online. These quality pipes need less cleaning but still need it once in a while.

For a variety of reasons, maintaining your shisha pipe is critical. To begin with, the easiest method to extend the life of your shisha set is to keep it clean and maintain it regularly. Second, a clean shisha pipe is essential for maintaining the purity of your shisha throughout your sessions, as certain flavours might remain in your shisha pipe even after you pack another bowl. Lastly, smoking unclean shisha might be harmful to one’s health. Regardless, cleaning your shisha pipe is critical, and it might be the difference between a successful and unsuccessful session.

  1. Clean and maintain the hose/mouthpiece

Ensure you have a hose that can be washed. You don’t want to harm your hose by putting water in it if it can’t handle it! Washing a rubber shisha hose or a silicone shisha hose is generally safe.

Silicone hoses are less challenging to clean. First, loosen the hose from the base by gently twisting it from side to side until it becomes accessible and easily detachable. Pull the hose until it comes off, and the two sections separate when you feel it is loose enough. Now, it’s time for blowing. Place your mouth on the nozzle of the hose through which you would generally inhale the smoke and blow as hard as you can. Then, hold them under running water until clean water runs out of the hose is sufficient. Have the hose submerged on the side where the mouthpiece is attached. We use a brush to remove any accumulated dirt on the interior of the hose if needed. For a deeper cleanse, use a baking soda solution. After cleaning the hose, give it a good rinse. With the hose unfurled or vertical, drying should be done naturally.

  1. Cleaning and Caring for the Shisha Pipe Stem

The most time-consuming technique is stem cleaning. The fact is that the smoke is cooling here, and the compounds contained inside it have settled on the tube’s walls. As a result, cleaning is limited to a specific long brush or a twisted piece of fabric or rag.

If your shisha pipe can be disassembled, please do so because cleaning will be easier and more efficient.

  1. Clean and care for the head and bowl

When cleaning or washing your bowl, never do so while it is hot. Allow it to cool completely before using! Washing your shisha bowl under warm running water is simple. Scrape off any remaining caked-on tobacco with your metal sponge. To avoid harming and ruining the surface of glazed bowls, use a cloth sponge. Toothpicks can be used to clean the holes in your bowl.

  1. Clean and Care for the Glass Vase/Base

When it comes to cleaning the glass base, this necessitates a greater level of concentration. That’s because losing your grip, especially when the ground is wet, might result in a collision. Use a brush and lukewarm water, and add baking soda if needed.

  1. Clean and maintain your Heat and Management Device (HMD)

If you want a thorough cleaning, boil your HMD for five minutes. This will make removing caked-on tobacco a breeze. If you don’t desire to do that, eliminate the remaining tobacco and syrup using steel wool, a grill brush, or a metal kitchen sponge.

5 Time-saving Tips for Shisha Pipe Cleaning:

  • Use a food-graded soda carbonate (baking soda) water solution to remove stubborn grime.
  • Is it possible to cope with your glass base’s hardened deposits? Fill your glass with warm water and one glass of dried rice/buckwheat mixed with baking soda. Shake the container firmly for 2-3 minutes with your hand covering it.
  • Add lemon juice to the wash cycle. The acid contributes to a fresh, clean aroma with a natural twist. Make sure the juice is thoroughly rinsed. Allow enough time for drying.
  • For a heavier water flow, you can use the shower.
  • After each session, replace the water in the shisha’s base.
